Hamurana Springs

Updated: Aug 11, 2022

On the northern side of Lake Rotorua sits this incredible place - the deepest freshwater spring in the North Island of New Zealand. Around 4,500,000 litres of water flow out of this 15 metre deep spring every hour!

The springs (there's more than one, although Te Puna-a-Hangarua is the largest) are nestled in a beautiful, lush green environment and through a magnificent redwood grove. It's not a long walk, but with such beautiful scenery which you can't help but stop and marvel at, the 800m track to the spring might take you a little while.
